Atalla Ayan, born in Belem, Brazil, studied at the Carlos Gomes
Conservatory. He made his debut at 21 as Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi,
and the following year, he debuted as Rodolfo in La Bohème in
Athens. With this role, he performed in major theaters such as the Opéra
National de Paris, the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and the Royal Swedish
Opera. In 2007/08, he joined the Scuola dell'Opera of the Teatro Comunale
di Bologna, debuting as Ruggero in La rondine. In 2009/10, he
became a member of the Lindemann Young Artists Development Program at the
Metropolitan Opera, debuting at the MET in 2011. A member of the
Staatsoper Stuttgart since 2011, he has performed roles such as Tamino,
Don Ottavio, Fenton, and the Duke of Mantua. He is in high demand at major
international theaters for his ideal timbre for the Italian repertoire and
his excellent high notes.
